Best Practice

HeadSpace

Libraries are thinking big and modernising their services for young people through a national change programme, new tools, and prototype HeadSpace services. We need to fast forward the work, and build on success- for the third year running children’s book issues are up. We need policy makers to integrate libraries fully in the government‘s Aiming High strategy for positive activities and local authrotiy partners to see them as serious partners in delivering the young people’s policy agenda.

Welcome to the HeadSpace™ web resource

HeadSpace™ is one of the key projects of The Reading Agency’s national change programme for young people’s library services, Fulfilling their Potential . Supported by an award from the Big Lottery Young People's Fund, the project is working with 20 library partners from the North West, South West, South East and East Midlands to develop engaging spaces for young people’s creative reading activity managed and delivered in partnership with young volunteers.

This section of the TRF website will provide you with information, guide you through interactive e-learning tools, and give you online networking facilities to help you develop your work with young people and support you in working towards a successful HeadSpace project in your library service. You can also use TRF's online discussion  section, TRF Coffee Break, to share your learning, ask questions and network with other HeadSpace projects.
