Service Activity

Example

Outcome:

"Young people become more confident about themselves as readers"

Evidence of impact:

  • Young people take risks in their reading
  • Young people are more confident in talking about their reading experiences with their peers and with adults
  • Young people are reading more widely
  • Young people see themselves as readers

What activities might you put in place to achieve this outcome?

Look at each piece of impact evidence to help you decide. Your options here could include:

  • Offering a wide range of reading choices in your stock
  • Building staff skills in talking with young people about their reading
  • Reading challenges
  • Reading groups

Step 3 - Plan Your Service Activity

Decide what service activity will best enable you to achieve your outcome and enter this in column 3 of your Planning table.

See this worked example (this link opens a new window) for suggestions for the service activities and features you might put in place to help achieve the outcome 'Young people feel that the library is a key space for them'.

At the same time as you plan your activities, it is important that you put into place your systems for collecting evidence.
